SOMALI AMERICAN UNITED COUNCIL - To Empower and Educate

THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR TOMORROW IS TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO SHAPE IT TODAY:

 A SUCCESSFUL PARENTING EDUCATION PROGRAM:
Today, May 18 we are celebrating a great graduation ceremony, the culmination of two months Seminar conducted in partnership with the ASU Dream Academy.

We would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks and gratitude for all dignitary guests that have joined us to celebrate the completion of a successful training program for newly arrived refugee families.  All Members of the Somali American United Council of Arizona are truly pleased for the collaborative initiative and good working relationship with the ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY.

As everyone can understand, Refugees must go for a positive change, they must learn a new language, and more important, a new existence.  This program was designed to ensure a positive effect on the improvement of the participants' human condition, to ensure socially committed families who are able to work successfully, achieving self-sufficiency by properly integrating into the mainstream American society, and to attain the wisdom that comes from eradicating ignorance.

SAUC, who have achieved standards of accepted Professionalism and seriously committed to provide a system and make sure that the refugee receive access to appropriate empowerment and educational program, which will result in an increase to the positive social change, emotional support and successful integration process.

We believe in Collaboration as a method that creates harmony and the best ways of working together to perform common goals. This will lead the two organizations to collaborate and work together in implementing programs that address cultural barriers.

Basically, we educate refugee for a meaningful Empowerment process to resettle properly, integrate, become Productive Law-abiding Citizens and achieve economic and social self-sufficiency. Indeed we are the bridge and catalyst for positive change in our community.

We thank everyone for the support, for sharing our collective objective; and making SAUC a success as a whole.   We also thank everyone who helped and guided us through the way and giving us the opportunity to work and collaborate together.

WHEN WE ACHIEVE, WE CERTAINLY DO SO BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE HELPED.

Although, we can’t thank enough, on behalf of the SOMALI AMERICAN UNITED COUNCIL of Arizona, we would like to express our thank and gratitude to the executive team of the ASU American Dream Academy for making possible and successful this training program.

THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR TOMORROW IS TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO SHAPE IT TODAY:

An important Meeting aimed at understanding and helping Somali Refugees arriving in Arizona has been conducted at the SAUC’s Center on Monday, January 14 2013.

The focus of the meeting was to discuss the most recent demographic information for the Phoenix area, which shows that Somalis are anticipated to be among the most numerously arriving immigrant groups this year in Arizona.  The participants have shared ideas that might lead to practical solutions to best serve this group, who arrives with some unique needs and challenges.  Has been also discussed some background information about the situation in the country from which this population is emigrating, some cultural dynamics that is important to understand in order to be able to effectively help them transition through the resettlement process, to enhance their receptivity to the new social change, and to assist them in attaining social and economic self-sufficiency

Change starts when leaders have a clear vision of how situation could be better.
This meeting has given all participants the opportunity to discuss plans to educate, inspire and empower Refugees. Has also provided a powerful platform needed in strengthening the hope, positive change and proper resettlement process.

WHEN WE ACHIEVE, WE CERTAINLY DO SO BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE HELPED.

On behalf of the Somali American United Council of Arizona, we would like to express our gratitude and thanks to our State Refugee Coordinator Mr. Shipman, to all RRP’s Managers and to all participants who have attended and shared our Talk Session for giving us a time out of their very busy schedules.

Thank you!
